Monsoons to the Hot Season

Hot weather has hit Karnataka!

When I arrived in India it was monsoon season and I came to love the daily torrential downpours that would make noise on the metal roofs and cool things off. Then came India’s winter season, which provided what I would consider idyllic temperatures. Although I have to admit, I was jealous of my friends and family in US who were engaging in snowball fights and sled races during the crazy snowstorms that hit the East Coast this year.

As summer begins to encroach on us, the temperatures have been on the rise and it’s become increasingly challenging to keep cool. What’s most concerning is that the worst is yet to come; the temperatures in April and May are supposed to be super intense. I’ve been taking cold showers, using fans and drinking coconut water on a regular basis to keep as cool and hydrated as possible. Now, it’s time for me to go to bed so I’m going to hop in a cold shower and crank up the fan to get a good night’s rest, despite the fact that the thermometer in my room says it’s 90 degrees F. I’m looking forward to things cooling off once monsoon season hits again!
