Sandbox External Fellowships

External Fellowships provide opportunities for individuals and institutions working to accomplish specific deliverables over a fixed period of time.  The Deshpande Foundation will act as a facilitator between the individual and organization/institution with the objective of exposing a large number of people to the sandbox concept, increasing contact points available between sandbox and the external world and hopefully leading to specific opportunites related to organizational growth and visibility.

External fellowships will permit international fellows to work directly with local NGOs and institutions based upon the connection of skill set and experience associated with project needs defined by the local NGO/Institution.  All positions will address a specific skill set or project (eg.  Fundraising, teaching, grants proposals, marketing, documentation, social networking, and marketing).

External Fellowships will be based upon Non-Educational and Educational Fellowships.

 Non-Educational Fellowships/Programs:

Sandbox Partner Fellowship:

Program connects post-graduate candidates with partner NGO’s requesting specific skills related to a specific project.  All Fellowships will be based upon a contractual period of 4-6 months with possible opportunities for fellowship renewal up to 1 year.  The Ideal candidates will have experience in areas relevant to sector in addition to added skills from  IT, business (marketing and management), and finance (accounting) sectors as well as other globally applicable skills helpful to the project requirements. 

Sandbox Partner Fellowships will be offered only to DF current and former partners. 

Educational Fellowships/Programs:

High School Enrichment:

This program provides high school students an opportunity to experience cultural development first hand.  Individuals participating in this program would be provided with an opportunity to understand sandbox concept and participate in site visits. 

Study Tour:

  This program will expose fellows to each sector that the Foundation works with for 1 week per sector and will include four days at the Foundation. Organizing regular exposure visits for selected groups of people interested in promoting sandbox concept to other places.
