A group of us recently returned from a trip to Bangalore
where we feasted on some amazing food, celebrated Holi by throwing brightly
colored powder on each other and had an opportunity to visit the Infosys
campus. The security to get into
Infosys’ campus in Bangalore is intense, but with the help of the Deshpande
Foundation we were able to get special permission for a tour.
Preethika, a young and enthusiastic Infosys’ employee
started our tour with background information on Infosys’ history and the work
the company does. Then we hopped in a golf cart and set off to see the rest of
the campus including the swimming pool, golf course and uniquely designed
buildings. We also checked out the fitness facilities and a couple of us
purchased business casual shirts in the Infosys store. We completed the tour
with fresh juice in one of the many cafeterias on the campus.
The moment we stepped on the campus, it felt as if we were
in another world. It was a pretty incredible experience to get an up close look
at a company that has had such an immense impact on not only India, but the
world and see a side of India that is so different from what we see on a day to
day basis in the Sandbox.
